Big decision by the Election Commission.
The Election Commission has issued instructions regarding the duties of government employees in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It has been stated that if both husband and wife are in government service, then both will not have to perform election duty, but only one of them will have duty in the Lok Sabha elections, as per the directive.
The Uttar Pradesh Election Commission has issued directions to district election officers to submit applications to relieve the district election officer of their duties, based on which a decision will be taken to free the district election officer from their duties.
The Uttar Pradesh Election Commission's office has requested that if both husband and wife are in government service, and if they are facing difficulties, one of them can be given election duty based on their application. The Election Commission has already sent this information to the United Teachers Association, Ministerial Collector Employees Association, and United Teachers Association.
The Lok Sabha elections will be held in 7 phases across the country, with the voting taking place on 4th June 2024. This will be the longest-running general election in India, spanning over 44 days. In Uttar Pradesh, voting will take place in 7 phases for 80 seats. The first phase (April 19) will see voting in Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina, Moradabad, Rampur, and Pilibhit.
